2003 RRRR
Carolina blue skies and bright sunshine greeted the 78 riders in the 2003 Rollin' Round the River Ride Saturday, September 13th. The ride raised over $1,300 for the Special Olympics athletes of Wilkes County. Riders ranged in age from 13 to 72 and came from as far away as Wilmington to enjoy the tour through the upper Yadkin valley. World Games gold medalist Chris Clarida led the peloton across W. Kerr Scott Dam at the start of the ride. Chris rode 40 miles during RRRR 2003; he was one of several riders to set a personal distance record during the event. And speaking of records, participation in the ride set a record, with more than twice as many riders as the inaugural event in 2002. Thanks, everyone!
